10 Mallorcan projects to improve sustainability
2 October, 2024The Consell de Mallorca has presented 10 projects “of the highest importance and priority” to be financed with the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS). The proposals range from the protection of the natural environment and the recovery of historical heritage to the promotion of responsible tourism and the fight against the illegal offer on the island.
The 10 projects were presented to the Evaluation Commission of the Annual Plan for the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism for the period 2024-2025. The common denominator among all the proposals, which require a total investment of 56 million euros, is to promote environmentally, culturally and resident-friendly tourism.
Campaigns to promote sustainable tourism, deseasonalisation, the activation of tourism products in the low season and projects to improve Mallorca’s connectivity require more than 40% of the total budget. “These projects are of the utmost importance and priority for the promotion of sustainable tourism in Mallorca,” said the Minister of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster.
