October: the best month for wine tourism in Spain
16 October, 2024Spain’s 37 wine routes receive the most visits in October. There were a total of 328,893 visitors in October 2023. Of these, 242,336 were visits to wineries and 86,557 to wine museums, according to the 16th ‘Annual Report on Visits to Wineries and Wine Museums’ associated with the Wine Routes of Spain product club.
In fact, October coincides (in general terms) with the grape harvest period in most of the territories, one of the most striking moments from an agricultural, landscape and wine-growing point of view. In addition, taking advantage of the grape harvest, many of the wineries that form part of the Wine Routes of Spain offer special tourist experiences that can only be enjoyed during the weeks that this activity lasts.
These proposals are also offered by the wine museums or even organised by the wine routes themselves. The fact that the weather remains good during this month also influences the number of visitors, as does the possibility of seeing the winemaking process once the harvested grapes reach the wineries.
