The Port of Motril-Granada is about to experience an important tourist boost thanks to the construction of a new terminal with which it intends to become a benchmark cruise destination at European level, according to the local media El Faro Motril.

With the new port facilities, which will involve an investment of around 30 million euros, the aim is to increase capacity from the current 60,000 cruise passengers to 350,000 in 2027. It will also be equipped with commercial and tourist areas so that visitors can enjoy a rich offer as soon as they disembark.

Motril was one of the ports that registered the highest growth in 2023, the forecasts of the City Council and the Port Authority for this season are even more positive, doubling both the number of stopovers and passengers. The destination will once again break all its records thanks to the 39 stopovers planned, which is a substantial improvement on the 25 recorded in 2023 and the 17 in 2022.
