Baleària uses Wi-Fi for passengers based on Hispasat and Starlink
6 November, 2024The shipping company Baleària has joined forces with Eurona, an expert in connectivity services and solutions, to offer its passengers a pioneering connectivity service that considerably improves Internet access by integrating Wi-Fi and connection with Hispasat’s GEO and Starlink’s LEO satellites.
With this innovative service in the maritime transport sector, users can access a faster Internet connection on the high seas with less latency. In this way, not only can they access web browsing, but they can also stream content from various platforms.
This new connectivity service is already available on four of the company’s ships, the Margarita Salas and Eleanor Roosevelt fast ferries, between the mainland and the Balearic Islands and the Marie Curie and Sicily ferries, which in this case link Huelva and the Canaries. Subsequently, the shipping company plans to extend this service to other vessels in the fleet.
