Madrid is Europe’s most desirable city says Wanderlust
20 November, 2024Madrid was the favourite destination for over 168,000 readers of the UK’s leading travel publication Wanderlust, which awarded Madrid the prize as Europe’s most desirable city for its history but also highlights the city’s model of responsible tourism, as well as its impressive architecture, vibrant food scene and creativity.
Madrid has beaten destinations such as Istanbul, Lisbon and Copenhagen in this edition, climbing up from fifth place last year. The Councillor for Tourism, Almudena Maíllo, highlighted “the pride that we Madrilenians feel when we see how Madrid is such a highly valued city at international level”.
With this award, Madrid consolidates its position as one of the most fascinating and attractive tourist destinations in the world, as it is currently the third best urban destination in the world according to Euromonitor and has won the World Travel Awards as the best congress and meeting destination in Europe and the world, for seven and five consecutive years, respectively.
