Spain’s first historic luxury grand hotel to reopen in Tenerife
27 November, 2024The operator My Way Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that the Gran Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife, Canary Islands) will reopen on 1 April 2025. The first great luxury hotel in Spain in the 19th century has been completely renovated. Gustavo Escobar, the new general manager of the establishment, was in charge of presenting at WTM the first 3D images of what the complex will look like.
“The decision to restore the Gran Hotel Taoro responds to the vision of making it once again a national and international benchmark for luxury tourism, as it was in the past. It’s not just about restoring a historic building, but about reviving a symbol of elegance, hospitality and exclusivity that set the standard for high-end tourism in Europe,” the manager said.
Work began in January 2023 to renovate the Puerto de la Cruz establishment, which stopped receiving guests in 1975 and spent 40 years closed as a hotel but operated as a casino. The aim of this “renaissance”, he remarked, is simply to once again become a major benchmark for national and international tourism.
