A Catalonian village voted the prettiest in the world by Tourism UN

18 December, 2024

The village of Pals, in the Baix Empordà region (Gerona), has been chosen by UN Tourism to form part of the fourth edition of the Best Tourism Village 2024. On this occasion, other spanish villages have also entered: Aínsa, in Huesca (Aragon), and Mura, in Barcelona.

This municipality, located just five kilometres from the coast, surprises travellers with a historic quarter that has maintained its essence over the years. So its narrow, cobbled streets, its stone houses and its historical heritage give rise to a mediaeval network (including a castle), all very impressive.

Overall 55 villages from all over the world have been included in this year’s Best Tourism Village 2024, in which 260 villages from more than 60 UN Tourism Member States have participated. In this way, Pals has become a unique tourist destination in Spain and the world thanks to its unique combination of historical wealth and natural landscapes.
