OXO video game museum in Malaga opens new HQ in Madrid

18 December, 2024

“When you play video games you are used to dreaming of the impossible”. As said by Santiago Bustamante, cultural director of the OXO Videogame Museum in Malaga in early December in Madrid’s Plaza del Callao.

In this case, the dream is to transfer the format of the successful Andalusian museum to the centre of Madrid and, as if it were a video game, we can say: mission accomplished. At number 8, Calle del Postigo de San Martín, the former home of the bookshop La Central, books have been replaced by technological devices.

The museum, over 1,600 m², has two floors dedicated to historiography and the different ways of playing, from the most analogue to the most creative, with all kinds of devices and games brought from all over the world; and a third floor where there will be temporary exhibitions. The first of these temporary exhibitions celebrates an anniversary that overlaps with the opening of OXO: 30 years of the PlayStation console.
