Balearics to invest €850m in sustainable tourism initiatives

The Balearic Islands are strengthening their commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection with an investment of nearly €377 million for 2024-2025. This budget will allow the implementation of 79 strategic projects aimed at transforming the destination, prioritising the improvement in the management of the water cycle, the promotion of both sustainability and a more responsible tourism model.

This new stage is in addition to the 222 projects approved since 2016 which have had an investment of €485 million. Overall, this brings the total to 301 projects and an investment of over €850 million.

Of the budget allocated for the next two years, 65% (€247 million) will be invested in environmental projects that include the modernisation of water infrastructures, the use of technologies for the efficient management of water resources and the implementation of innovative systems such as agricultural irrigation with purified water.
