Why 2024 has been the best year for tourism on the Costa del Sol
29 January, 2025The Costa del Sol closes 2024 with historic figures that confirm its leadership as the main tourist destination in Andalusia and one of the most featured in Spain and Europe. This was highlighted by Francisco Salado, president of the Malaga Provincial Council and Costa del Sol Tourism, at the presentation of the tourism balance of the past year and the outlook for 2025.
The president showed that the destination has grown two to three times more in revenue, employment and profitability than in the number of tourists in 2024. Specifically, hotel profitability, RevPAR (revenue per available room) rose by 6% to 94.85 euros.
“In other words, visitors have increased by 3.1%, income by 10.9%, employment by 7% and hotel profitability by 6%,” stressed Salado. “These results show that we are moving towards a more sustainable tourism model, with higher quality and profitability, a strategy on which we have been working for years with the sector,” he stressed.
