Worldwide, 2 of the 3 most sustainable tourism companies are Spanish
26 February, 2025Meliá Hotels International has been included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the seventh consecutive year. After analysing almost 7,690 companies from around the world through the Annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), the most prestigious international report in the field of sustainability once again highlights the performance of this Spanish hotel chain in the tourism sector.
Specifically, the leading financial ratings and market analysis agency S&P Global places Meliá in third place, behind the Thai company Asset World Corporation (specialised in property investment, also with hotel assets) and the Spanish technology company Amadeus, which is the top hotel company in the ranking.

Meliá’s ratings in the environmental indicators show an outstanding climate strategy, as well as solid environmental management. The company has set a global target of reducing CO2 emissions by 71.4% in 2035, compared to 2018, and has consolidated a reporting model to rigorously and reliably monitor indicators in terms of carbon footprint, energy and water consumption to advance its commitments.
