Gran Canaria joins the Spanish Network of Destinations for Diversity
5 March, 2025The island of Gran Canaria has joined the Spanish Network of Destinations for Diversity (REDD), an ecosystem that connects destinations, public institutions, companies and tourists in Spain to promote inclusive and diverse tourism.
A pioneering initiative in LGBTI+ tourism, REDD’s approach is based on creating strategic alliances, offering specialised training and managing an interactive digital platform. It contributes to the development of more open, safe and competitive destinations, diversity becoming a source of cultural wealth and shared progress.

The Minister of Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, emphasised the history and the link of this destination with the LGBTI client, as it was one of the first in Europe to establish itself as a gay-friendly space in every sense.
