Cercanías Wine Route: wine tourism by train
12 March, 2025Renfe Viajeros and Madrid Enoturismo have signed an agreement to launch the ‘Ruta del Vino en Cercanías’. This initiative will begin on 13 March and run until 13 November. Those interested will be able to enjoy a wine tourism experience on the second Thursday of each month.
The itinerary begins with the train departing at 9:42 from Atocha station (Madrid) bound for Aranjuez. Once there, transfers will be made by bus, and in total two wineries will be visited during the morning and another two in the afternoon, all of them in the town of Colmenar de Oreja. The visits will include wine tastings with food pairings.
Of particular note is the visit to the Pedro García winery, located in the historic centre of Colmenar de Oreja. This winery combines modern facilities with traditional elements, such as earthenware jars and concrete tanks. The visit includes a tour of its rooms and a tasting of two wines paired with local products.
