Future themed hotel next to Atlético de Madrid’s stadium
18 June, 2025Madrid adds a new tourist initiative with the future construction of a 4 or 5 star themed hotel next to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, promoted by Atlético de Madrid. The project, still pending municipal approval, envisages transforming what was to be the Aquatic Centre into a complex linked to sport, music and entertainment, thus reinforcing the tourist and leisure offer in the area surrounding the stadium.
The consultancy firm Colliers has been chosen to lead the selection process of the hotel operator that will manage the establishment. The tender will be conditioned by the final approval of the Madrid City Council, which is keeping the proposal on public display and could receive allegations.
In addition to the hotel, the initiative includes an auditorium for concerts and shows and a space for cultural events, developed in collaboration with Oak View Group and Live Nation, the club’s partners in the Barsento SL partnership.
The aim is to have the chosen operator in place once the concession is obtained, estimated in six to eight months, with the intention of starting work in late 2025 or early 2026. The project has aroused sector interest, consolidating Madrid as a destination for major tourist developments.
