Golf tourism, increasingly important for Gran Canaria’s economy
18 June, 2025Golf tourism in Gran Canaria generated €198.2 million in 2024 with the arrival of 100,000 tourists attracted by this segment, according to data presented during the IAGTO European Congress held on the island. This figure represents a significant growth compared to the 161.3 million in 2023 and underlines the consolidation of golf as a key economic driver in the destination’s tourism offer.
Golf tourists spend an average of €1,875, higher than general visitors (€1,494), and their average stay is 10.8 days, compared to 10.5 days for others. And 65% of visitors are repeat visitors, reflecting strong loyalty.

The congress, held at the Expomeloneras Palace, brought together 830 professionals from 52 countries and 280 companies, making it the most productive commercial golf event in the sector, according to IAGTO. Its advertising and direct impact is valued at €1.5 million, with the potential to further increase the revenue of the golf product on the island.
The island authorities are committed to this type of specialised tourism to diversify the offer and increase the added value of the sector in Gran Canaria.
