3 Spanish destinations awarded for celebrating diversity and inclusion
20 July, 2022Andalusia, Antequera and Barcelona have been chosen as European Capitals of Diversity and Inclusion for 2022. The scheme is running for the first time as part of the European Diversity Month, which has taken part throughout the month of May under the slogan “building bridges”.
The Diversity Foundation and the European Commission have been responsible for the inclusion of Spain in these events for the second year running. Andalusia has been presented the Gold award thanks to efforts from local authorities to promote the inclusion of the Romani community.
For the category of towns and cities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, Antequera was awarded the Bronze prize. For cities of over 50,000 inhabitants, Barcelona came in third place after receiving a Bronze award. Antequera also received the public choice award.
