Spanish campsites enjoy a record summer

27 July, 2022

Spanish campsites are getting ready for their most successful summer in history. For the last decade, campsites had been increasing on their average year on year occupancy up until 2019, when they managed to exceed 85% occupancy with 4,448,000 travellers and 22,781,000 overnight stays.

After two summers of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sector expects to exceed 90% of the national average occupancy and expects to welcome 5 million travellers and 23 million overnight stays. Many establishments are expecting to be fully booked from mid-July to mid-August.

This promising data is based on the recovery of international tourism which can now enter the country without any kind of restrictions or limitations combined with a boost in numbers of Spanish tourists.

Forecasts for campsites
