Emerging film tourism breaks new ground in Spain

24 August, 2022

The Film Tourism Network has recently emerged in Spain as a result of the merging of various entities from the tourism and audio-visual sectors. Its aim is to promote a single channel where government and companies coordinate to produce and market immersive experiences inspired by successful films and series.

The project involves the signing of tourism commercial rights for the films, with the aim of transforming the audio-visual content into interactive experiences that turn the audience into protagonists and tourists of their favourite productions.

"We are committed to an innovative product that adds value and opens doors to new markets and audiences, both for destinations, in their efforts to attract filming and tourism, and for tourism and film companies", explains Ali Urrosolo, director of Atxaspi Lab, the Navarrese company leading the project.

The Film Tourism Network is made up of ten organisations from the Basque Country, Navarre, Catalonia, Galicia, the Canary Islands, Valencia and Castile and Leon. The founders include the Spanish Network of Audio-visual Clusters (REDCAU), the Epic Foundation of La Fura dels Baus and the travel agency Cinema Travel, among other organisations.
