Iberostar will only serve responsibly sourced fish and seafood
14 September, 2022The Iberostar hotel chain had set itself the goal of ensuring that 65% of fish and seafood was sourced from responsible fishing in all of its restaurants and buffets, as part of its commitment to sustainability. In actual fact, the chain has exceeded this limit and managed to achieve a total of 88% sustainability for its products sourced in Spain.
This brand has published these figures in its 2021 Sustainability Report, which also sets out a clear vision that aims to use 100% sustainably fished products in all of its hotels and resorts in the near future. This objective is part of the chain's passion for the sea and the protection of the marine environment.
As part of this work, Iberostar actively supports research studies on the marine habitat -especially the protection of Posidonia Oceanica algae (also known as Neptune grass or Mediterranean tapeweed), a commonly occurring feature of waters around the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean- and the resistance of coral to the impacts of climate change.
