Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (flats, campsites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels) have increased by 103.1% in Spain between January and July this year, compared to the same period last year, and more than the same period in 2019, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Specifically, tourist apartment stays increased by 163.2% among international visitors. These accounted for 61.2% of the total, with the United Kingdom as the main source market.

In that month, 51.5% of the places offered by these establishments were occupied, 36.5% more than in the same month in 2021. The Canary Islands was the top destination, although in terms of tourist areas the Costa Blanca was the most popular among international tourists.
