An Iberostar hotel in Mallorca will be a climate change observatory

30 September, 2022

The Iberostar Group and IMEDEA, the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies, have announced the “Hotels-Observatory” joint project, an initiative which will analyse the effects of climate change on the dynamics of the beaches in northern Mallorca.

“The main objective of this initiative is to generate scientific knowledge and analysis tools to assess the risks and impacts of climate change, such as floods or coastal erosion processes, and thus propose mitigation actions”, the hotel company explained.

According to Sandra Benbeniste, director of EMEA Sustainability at the Iberostar Group, “we want our destinations to have a greater capacity for environmental and economic regeneration, and for both local communities and visitors to continue living and enjoying the beauty of our coasts”.
