When building a hotel in Ibiza they find a wall to protect
7 December, 2022The Balearic Islands did not have any properties in the public Paradores de Turismo network, so some time ago, a decision was taken open to of these hotels which are always located in an iconic building, sometimes new and sometimes historically renovated. What a surprise to see archaeological remains when initiating excavations!
Now, Turespaña and the Council of Ibiza have reached an agreement on protecting the latest archaeological remains found during the works of the future Parador, which will be the first of the network in the Balearics and is already known for housing vestiges of the island’s past which will be preserved in an effort for the sustainability of the territory and its history.
The proposal involves locating the engine room of the Parador pool in one of the locations proposed by the Department of Historical-Artistic heritage. Turespaña will study the best way to enhance the remains of the wall which appeared in order to guarantee its maximum protection, without this implying a delay in the deadlines set for the property’s opening.
