Why will all the 4* and 5* of the Balearics only have elevating beds?

11 January, 2023

The Balearic islands’ project to install elevating beds in all superior category hotels continues. This flagship measure of the autonomous government of the islands, presented at Fitur 2022, continued when, in September of the same year, the green light was given to aid to acquire these elements, the ultimate aim being to facilitate the work of housekeepers.

Overall, 15 million euros have been earmarked to subsidise the purchase of bed elevating mechanisms which will be installed in 4 and 5 star establishments, a measure adopted by the islands’ tourism law. The rule will enter into force in 2023 and there have been many requests for inclusion in the aid from hotel companies.

The new regulations stipulate that accommodation establishments which have voluntarily obtained a star rating, and which clean the room at least once a day, must ensure that all beds in the establishment, except the extra beds, are mechanically or electrically liftable.
