6 September, 2023

Eight out of ten hotel establishments on the Spanish Mediterranean coast already apply sustainability measures in the management of their businesses, according to the second Barometer prepared by Ecovidrio. With a score of 8.2 out of 10, hotels are in the lead, followed by restaurants (8 points), cafeterias (7.4) and other entertainment and gambling venues (7.4). Catalonia is the region that has improved the most from one year to the next.

The report prepared by Ecovidrio indicates that energy consumption "is once again the sustainability lever best managed by the hoteliers surveyed", with 9.2 points out of 10, followed by water consumption (8.7 out of 10) and waste management (7.9 out of 10). Although an improvement is observed compared to the previous edition, responsible consumption measures have a score of 5.4 out of 10.

Ecovidrio highlights the commitment of hoteliers to measures in favour of energy efficiency, "in a context marked by the energy crisis, the rise in prices and the necessary commitment to the transition to renewable energy." In fact, 92.3% of the hotel establishments surveyed claim to apply energy saving and efficiency measures.
