2 Andalusian hotels awarded for their water resource management
21 February, 2024The Fuerte Group Hotels chain was one of the pioneers in implementing protocols and devices that guarantee the use of water resources. This has recently been certified by Travelife technicians, who carried out an audit of the Fuerte El Rompido (Huelva) and Fuerte Conil-Resort hotels and renewed the organisation’s Gold category certification which both already held.
Both Fuerte El Rompido and Fuerte Conil-Resort were pioneers in their respective provinces when it came to implementing sustainable measures, the latter being the first hotel in Spain to be accredited with the ISO14001 certificate for its environmental management. Its location in natural assets of great environmental wealth and the need to preserve them, motivated the commitment to sustainability.
Note that in 2007 the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) created TraveLife, a sustainability scheme that aims to promote sustainable practices in the tourism sector. Since then, it has become a global certification body for sustainability in accommodation that is internationally respected for its impartiality and the breadth of the areas it audits.
