Spain is the world’s second leading country in tourism

5 June, 2024

Spain is the world’s second leading country in tourism with a score of 5.18, behind the USA, which leads this sector with 5.24 points, according to the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024, prepared by the World Economic Forum, which places these countries ahead of Japan (5.09 points), France (5.07), Australia (5), Germany (5), the UK (4.96), China (4.94), Italy (4.90) and Switzerland (4.81).

Created in collaboration with the University of Surrey and with input from leading Travel & Tourism stakeholder organisations, opinion leaders and data partners, the TTDI measures the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable and resilient development of the tourism sector.

The TTDI 2024 is the second edition of a ranking that evolved from the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) series, an iconic ranking of the World Economic Forum that has been in production since 2007.
