What’s new in the expansion and reform of Palma Airport?

2 October, 2024

The expansion and reform of Palma Airport are being used to include numerous improvements, such as the automation of some processes and energy optimisation. An example of this is the recent tender published by AENA for the “installation of self-consumption photovoltaics on the new canopies in the car park building”.

The project, valued at 6.65 million euros, will take 30 months to complete and includes the implementation of the works, commissioning, training and full maintenance for one year of all the photovoltaic solar panels that will be installed on the car park canopies.

It should be noted that this action is included in AENA’s Climate Action Plan, which is derived from the airport manager’s objective of ensuring 100% green electricity self-consumption by 2026 at the Mallorcan aerodrome.
