British tourists lead tourist spending in Spain
30 October, 2024The UK continues to be the main source market for tourism to Spain and with that comes huge tourist spending in the destination. Specifically, up to the month of August, 12.6 million British tourists arrived and spending increased by 16% to 15,758 million euros.
According to the data presented at the 4th Turespaña Convention in Tenerife, not only the UK but all the main outbound destinations have increased their tourist spending in Spain by a double-digit percentage year-on-year up to August, and the country continues to be the leading tourist destination in the main international markets in the run-up to the winter season.
As the most outstanding distinctive feature of the British market, Manuel Butler, Turespaña’s advisor in London, pointed out that “there is a growing tendency to book late and to travel in the mid-season, the months of October and November, which favours deseasonalisation”.
