Ifema Madrid measures the carbon footprint of its events
4 December, 2024Ifema Madrid is starting to analyse, on an individual basis, the carbon footprint generated at each of the fairs and events it organises. A step towards achieving scope 3 in the measurement of the carbon footprint, after having achieved in the last four consecutive years the certification “I calculate and reduce” in scopes 1 and 2 within the Registry of carbon footprint, compensation and CO2 absorption projects.
Since 2017, Ifema Madrid has been measuring and recording its carbon footprint in scopes 1 and 2, having achieved a 90.3% reduction in this time. The project has been introduced to make progress in this study, transferring the calculation of this footprint to each of the fairs.
The carbon footprint is a key indicator in quantifying the environmental impact of any activity. It allows us to quantify the emissions attributable to the main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to have a complete picture of the impact of a fair on climate change due to anthropogenic GHG emissions.
