This is how Air Europa will save fuel as its planes soar

29 January, 2025

The Spanish airline Air Europa has incorporated the OptiClimb application, developed by SITA, a provider of technological solutions for air transport, to generate specific and individual indications to pilots on the optimum speed in the climb phase of aircraft.

This minimises fuel consumption, thereby reducing emissions into the atmosphere. According to calculations, an estimated 3,000 tonnes of fuel will be saved annually as a result.

Applied to both the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 737 fleets of Air Europa and Air Europa Express, this solution uses three types of information sources to make its calculations. It uses specific data for each aircraft by means of predictive models generated by artificial intelligence.
