4 sustainable hotel practices that guests value

The Spanish hotel chain Eurostars Hotel Company has requested the collaboration of its customers through its open innovation platform Hotel Tester Ideas, to discover which sustainable practices travellers value in the brands they regularly stay at and which are priorities.

These have been the most requested practices by customers through the collaborative platform:

  1. Reduction in the use of plastics. Customers appreciate the installation of water dispensers or filters so that they can refill their own bottles, thus reducing the generation of plastic waste.

  2. Energy efficiency and use of renewable energies. Users propose watering the interior gardens with recycled water from the hotel itself, or providing electric charging points in all parking areas.

  3. Local gastronomy. Travellers suggest that a guidebook be prepared for each destination with the route of the gastro offer in order to explore the local cuisine. Choosing the menu in advance is also another suggestion to help avoid food waste.

  4. Ecological amenities. Travellers appreciate environmentally friendly and fragrance-free cleaning products, as they reduce chemical residues in the water.
