Santander boots itself as a MICE destination
30 October, 2024Santander City Council and the Cantabria Hotel and Catering Association have strengthened their commitment to collaborate to promote MICE tourism in the city. During a recent meeting, both parties agreed to prioritise strategies to strengthen this method as an economic engine and a key element for the deseasonalisation of tourism in the Cantabria region.
MICE tourism is considered an essential tool for increasing the number of overnight stays and prolonging stays in Santander, which has a positive impact on the local hospitality industry. This type of tourism helps to break seasonality, allowing the city to maintain a constant tourist activity throughout the year, beyond the summer months.
The agreed actions aim to promote the identity and quality of hospitality establishments, adapting their services to attract corporate visitors and high-end events. This strategy will not only benefit the hospitality industry, but will also help to position Santander as a competitive destination within the business tourism market, improving its outreach both nationally and internationally.
